It's always great to show support and buy hair products from our own communities; in order to help one other prosper for generations down the road. I have realized that a lot of these are accessible in our local Sally's Beauty and other beauty supply stores.

Sometimes hair products can get expensive but we want the best for our hair. Here some affordable brands to try that are black-owned and cater to children’s hair: 1. Curly Q's by CURLS You may have heard about the infamous CURLS brand from the blueberry bliss line. Their kids line is perfect for your little princesses and princes who want to embrace their beautiful curls.

There are seven products in this line ranging from a curl lotion for fine curls to a custard for thick, kinky curls. All of the products in this line are less than $20.

"CURLS was founded in 2002 in Elk Grove, California by CEO, Mahisha Dellinger. Now greatly expanded, CURLS continues to maintain the highest standards for quality ingredients and product dependability. Dellinger collaborated with leading cosmetic experts to develop CURLS. Her intense desire to create a remarkable line for a growing, yet overlooked audience, coupled with an extensive chemistry background proved to be a winning combination. CURLS’ exceptional CEO remains committed to carefully upholding the principles of quality and integrity that define the company."

2. EDEN BodyWorks: Kids Coco Shea Berry Collection Eden is personally one of my favorite brands. I discovered this brand when volunteering at CurlFest this past July. I use it for my daily braid-outs each night.

Their kids line is raved about. It detangles different textures without damaging the curls. This line has 5 products and the whole line is under $10!!

"EDEN BodyWorks was the brainchild of Jasmine Lawrence when was just a child herself. At 11 years old, Jasmine faced her first beauty challenge. Her hair was badly damaged and she was searching for natural products to nurture and restore her hair back to health. With no solution in sight, Jasmine took to her kitchen and concocted her own remedy. And there, the EDEN BodyWorks story begins. EDEN BodyWorksTM provides natural products that integrate wellness and beauty inspired by nature to restore and maintain the hair and body’s original design."

3. Reagan Sanai Natural Hair Essentials The story behind this brand is amazing. The goal behind the brand is to educate, teach, and empower parents to learn about the importance of a healthy hair regimen for their kids.

The brand has 6 products in total. The line is packed with organic ingredients such Shea Butter to Linseed to Castor Oil. The whole brand is under $15.

"Each batch is handcrafted, bringing you a supreme quality product. All products are formulated to work on various types of hair; from fine to coarse, curly to straight. With the fragrant formulas and all-natural ingredients, you may find that you love using these products as much as your children do. I invite you to try Reagan Sanai Natural Hair Essentials to give your little ones beautiful hair, delivered with love from my family to yours."
